How to use the artifact foundry calculation tools

The examples below use illustrative inputs to explain this tool. They are not live prices or game recipe tables. Check the selected recipe and in-game settings before using a result.

Match the calculation to the foundry operation

The foundry groups several workflows. Select the relevant operation before comparing costs: a conversion with a specified output and a meld with possible outcomes require different reasoning. Inspect the supported recipe, tier and input quantities in the selected module.

For an operation with multiple possible outcomes, the most expensive artifact is not the value of every attempt. A quoted value also needs a usable observation for that exact item and server. Missing outcome prices cannot justify valuing the batch at its best possible result.

Distinguish expected value from the best outcome

Consider a hypothetical operation with two equally likely outcomes worth 2,000 and 10,000 silver. Expected gross value is 0.5 × 2,000 + 0.5 × 10,000 = 6,000. If inputs cost 5,000, the gross expected difference is 1,000, although the cheaper outcome loses 3,000 before selling costs.

With an illustrative 4% selling tax, expected net proceeds fall to 5,760 and the expected margin to 760. These invented outcomes do not describe a real foundry probability table. Use the selected operation’s actual outputs and assumptions; do not assume all items share equal probabilities.

Budget for an unfavorable batch

A favorable expectation does not guarantee a favorable small batch. Check how much capital is tied up in inputs and how you would sell the less valuable outputs. Rare artifacts may have high listings but little demand.

For a specified-output transmutation, compare the complete ingredient and silver cost with buying that output. Keep separate workflows separate in the planner and verify any new or changed game recipe before spending silver.

Read buy orders, sell orders, and market averages

Use a worked transport example to distinguish a visible spread from an executable trade, account for market depth, and decide when an observation is too weak to use.
